The Animation. There are a number of ways that this could be done. I’ll describe what I did and what I ended up doing that was almost faster.

Reallusion and Unreal Engine have a link between them that allows you to take the animation that you create for the characters in iClone into Unreal without really exporting anything. You set up Livelink plugin and stream the animation over to the characters and basically, record takes of that animation.

It works really well and this is what I started to do, but it takes a tremendous amount of computer power. You…

Time to get into the forest creation. Previously in the storyboarding process, I created the idea that this would all take place inside a forest clearing. I needed a super quick way to build out the world with some depth but really just focus on the clearing itself.

I chose to use a Brushify.io pack. I used the Moorlands pack from Joe Garth. He creates great out-of-the-box solutions to creating massive worlds in Unreal Engine.

I just had to lower the lighting levels, adjust the landscape a bit and add some large trees around the scene. …

I don’t have the luxury of actually filming a movie with real people. I just don’t have the time to get out and do it for one. Finding people willing to do it with me is a whole other issue. So creating this short as an animated film is the most logical thing to do. Plus it’s what I enjoy trying to create.

I needed characters. In my script, I had originally created 3 characters. Since I created that I decided to pair down the characters to 2. The Mandalorian and his friend.

My go-to for character creation is nonetheless…

Obviously, I’m no expert on creating scripts or storyboards. I choose to try my hand at an approach that just kinda came to me after researching storyboards. What if I used an animator app to sketch my ideas and possible camera movements and character animation?

I chose to use Rough Animator. You can find it on the app store. In this app, you can create various layers and sketch out a sequence of frames into that sequence. Much like a flipbook.

I have always been enamored with film and animation. I’ve never really been that good at creating it myself, but I always had a passion for it. For many years I’ve been telling myself that I’m going to create a short film. The time for putting it off has passed. The time to make it happen is now.

I’ve had several ideas in the past but I never really got around to making them anything more than just an idea. I want to put an end to that now. I have an idea that I believe I can stick with…

Quixel is one of the most popular asset libraries in the world and is fully integrated into the new Epic Games UE5 early release. Quixel Megascans have a variety of different objects that can be used to make your game or animation look more realistic. One issue with quixel, however, is that it doesn’t come with collision enabled out of the box. In this article, I will show you how to add collision to Quixel assets in UE5 so you can navigate freely around and on objects in your world.

So what is collision?

Collision is the physical interaction between…

As a technology-driven society, it’s important to stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest advancements in your field. What do you think is the most important skill for success in today’s world?

It’s “learning.”

It seems like every week there’s a new technology or piece of equipment that we need to know how to use. It can be overwhelming to explore all the possible advancements to see which ones will have an impact on the way you work and which don’t offer much. …

They seem like such a great idea until you have to deal with all that data.

You have your new iPad or iPhone with the built-in lidar scanner. Cool. You have some technology that would have cost in the tens of thousands several years ago right there in your pocket.

Are you planning on using it for Architecture? Maybe create some asbuilts? I hope so. Pointclouds here we come. …

“I’m not good enough.”

It’s a phrase that many people who are just starting out on their journey of architecture and design have said to themselves at one point or another. When you’re in the middle of your work, surrounded by other talented designers, it can be hard to feel like you measure up. But guess what? That’s okay!

The truth is, everyone has these moments. You might have amazing potential for becoming a successful designer, but there is always that doubt in your mind where you think you’re not as “good” as everyone else. Others seem to be excelling…

Have you ever been in a situation where you’re juggling too many projects and not enough time to do them? You’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and maybe even resentful of your clients. You know the work will be good for your business and it’s hard to say “no.” How can you avoid these feelings by saying no to new work when necessary?

Be honest with yourself: Assess how much time you have for the project. Think about your current projects and what they need from you right now. What are other priorities in your life outside of work? …
