As a technology-driven society, it’s important to stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest advancements in your field. What do you think is the most important skill for success in today’s world?
It seems like every week there’s a new technology or piece of equipment that we need to know how to use. It can be overwhelming to explore all the possible advancements to see which ones will have an impact on the way you work and which don’t offer much. If you don’t take the time and make an effort to evaluate these things, then you’ll be left behind.
I’m always trying to learn new things. There are so many different programs that I could never hope to know how to use them all, but the more I can get my hands on, the better off I will be in the long run. It just takes a little bit of time each day or week — and before you know it you’ll be an expert at something new!
I recently ran into this with Project Navigator in Autocad. I’ve had my system set up for years. I was crafting the best process for 14 years and I recently learned about Project Navigator when I upgraded my Autocad software. Now to a lot of you, this is nothing new. But to me, it’s a huge advancement in the overall process of creating construction drawings.
For those who have not yet learned how this all works, it just takes some time and effort on your part but as soon as you start investing in yourself then that’s when everything becomes worthwhile — because at least now I know more than before!
Imagine going through the construction drawing process. All the sheet setup the mundane renaming, adding deleting of viewports and setup…. It’s just so much setup. Now imagine having a template that brings all the setup and creation of past projects into the next fluidly. All the mundane creation is automated.
This is what the project navigator does. Now I just need to focus on perfecting that template project so I can advance my future work.
The time to learn is now.
I’ll be exploring my Autocad software and using Project Navigator in the coming weeks for a more detailed blog post but just know that this tool will help you with your tedious workload.
I feel like we get stuck in our ways and it’s easy to forget that there is always something new out there. Even if you are a seasoned veteran in your field, it never hurts to learn about new methods because as I know now from my experience, it can only make things better!
