It’s easy to lose motivation when you’re doing something long-term. It may seem hard at first, but try these 3 things to help keep yourself motivated during a long construction project: 1) Reward yourself after certain milestones are reached 2) Keep your end goal in mind 3) Look for ways to make the work more enjoyable!

What are some other ways people stay motivated during a long construction project? Share your stories below!

Reward yourself after certain milestones are reached.

Finding small rewards every few weeks is a good way to keep motivated because there will be plenty of long stretches without anything to celebrate. You don’t need to go big or expensive, but you should reward yourself after reaching milestones. This could be anything from meals at your favorite restaurants to new tools for your toolbox! It’s easy to lose motivation when you’re doing work that doesn’t have a direct impact on something you care about. While it may be difficult to see the forest for the trees, keep your long-term goal in mind.

Find a way to frame long-term goals in short-term steps. This is an effective way of keeping motivated for those who struggle with goals that seem too daunting or distant. Even small progress is something to celebrate and remind yourself that the end goal is becoming closer!

1. What does your future house look like

2. Imagine the day you move in

3. Picture yourself living there

4. Write a list of everything you need to do to make it happen

5. Make a timeline and break down the steps into smaller chunks so they’re not overwhelming

6. Get started on one task at a time, even if it’s something small!

Reward yourself after certain milestones are reached. What does your future house look like? Imagine the day you move in or picture yourself living there, and write a list of everything you need to do to make it happen. Get started on one task at a time even if it’s something small! =>Keep your end goal in mind. Visualize the finish line by writing down all that needs to be done before you can enjoy your new home. Break these steps into smaller chunks so they’re not overwhelming, then get started on one step at a time starting with an easy first project! =>Visualize the finish often as this is effective for those who have trouble staying motivated during long-term projects because the end goal becomes more tangible when it’s insight. The end goal is becoming closer!
